The Department of Geography, Dayanand Vedic College is one of the most vibrant department of the college. It has a glorious history of sharing their domain knowledge and research at national academic platforms. The department has completed 52 glorious years since its establishment.
The Department of Geography was established in 1972 to carryout undergraduate courses in Geography under the headship of Late Dr. Dharm Singh Katiyar. During Prof. Katiyar's regime Dr. R.K. Srivastava (Associate Professor) joined the department and took charge of the department. He provided a new dimension to the teaching of Geography. Initially undergraduate classes were started, the first batch of postgraduate classes started in 1993. Dr. S.B.S. Bhadauriya (Associate Professor) joined in 1974, thereafter Late Dr. M.M. Tiwari (Associate Professor) joined in 1986 and enriched the department with his tremendous knowledge. The department published various research papers and articles in reputed Journals.
Presently the department has four meritorious and devoted faculties.
Dr. Gaurav Yadav (Assistant Professor) joined the department as head on 09/09/2017. Due to his great interest in all round development of the subject this department has achieved an eminent position. Ms. Sweta Yadav (Assistant Professor) and Mr. Vijay Vardhan (Assistant Professor) joined in 2022. They encourage the students in intensive knowledge of the subject and provided a friendly atmosphere to the students. Dr. Malikhan Singh joined the department as Assistant Professor (S.F.S.) in 2011 and provides a comprehensive knowledge of the subject.
The Department has a Geography Association that has remained active in imparting up-to-date knowledge on contemporary issues through activities like special lectures, awareness program and many more activities based on geographical knowledge. The students are also taken to educational/field visits to expose them to changing ground realities in both the physical and human landscape.
Now, the department is committed to offering our students the highest quality of education. The department offers B.A. / M.A. programs in Geography. It has a computer lab and all surveying instruments and faculty are committed to provide vast knowledge of the subject.
