About The Department :

The Political Science department is one of the oldest departments of the college. It was established in the year 1951. It has been adorned by the services of many a scholar and intellectuals.

Shri V. N. Shrivastav was the first teacher in the department. In fact he had joined college with the establishment of the Department of Political Science in 1951. He also served the college in the capacity till 1952. Thereafter Shri Hargovind Pant joined the department in 1952 and worked till 1960.

Dr. Uday Narayan Shukla joined the department in 1958 and worked till 1988. He conferred Ph.D. and D.Litt degrees from Lucknow University. He also served the college in the capacity of Principal of the college. He was a great scholar of Political Science and Law. This was reflected in his lectures which were fiery and displayed his academic and oratory skills.

Dr. Prem Narayan Dixit joined the department as a lecturer in 1960 and worked till 1973.
Dr. Jayshree Purwar was oppointed as a lecturer and posted till 2009. He conferred Ph.D. from Kanpur University and D.Litt degrees from Bundelkhand University. She possessed a very good knowledge of political thought.

Dr. Jaidayal Saxena was appointed a lecturer in 1969. He was well-versed in Marxist thought.

Dr. Aditya Kumar was appointed as a lecturer in 1974 and worked till 2017. He was Gold Medalist in merit of M.A. (Political Science) from Kanpur University. Dr. Aditya has been the longest serving member of the faculty so far.

Dr. Rajendra Kumar Purvar joined the department in 1993 and taught here till 2004. Dr. Purwar was a scholar of governance and politics. He waa a great orator.

Dr. Ripusudan Singh joined the Department of Political Science in 1989. Dr. Ripu completed his PhD degree from JNU New Delhi. He was a great orator of Marxist and left thoughts. Dr. Ripu moved Orai to Lucknow in 2008 after being selected as a Professor in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Central University. He possessed in depth knowledge of the 3 streams of Indian political thought: liberal, idealist and socialist. He held continuous dialogue with his contemporary politicians, thinkers and intellectuals like Ram Manohar Lohia,

At present there are three teachers in the department.
Dr. Namo Narayan, Assistant Professor & In-charge, joined the department on 29/08/2017 after being selected by the Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Service Commission. Dr. Namo has cleared the prestigious UGC NET/JRF exam in three subjects (Political Science, Education and Women's Studies) and has also been a Civil Services Aspirant. He has Appeared in interviews for many competitive exams including UPSC and UPPCS. He is a lifetime member of Coomaraswamy Foundation, Lucknow and associated with Punarutthan Vidyapeeth, Ahmedabad. As a diligent member of the academic fraternity, Dr. Namo has been a part of several national and international conferences. He has also served the college in various capacities. Dr. Namo has area of specialit of comparative politics, environmental and women issues.

Dr. Nagma Khanam, joined the department as Honorary Lecturer on 22/05/2009. Dr. Khanam has obtained silver medal in the merit list of Bundelkhand University in MA (Political Science). She is doing regular teaching work on 08/03/2019.

Shri Sunil Kumar, Assistant Professor, joined the department on 09/09/2022 after being selected by the Uttar Pradesh Higher education Service Commission. Sunil Kumar has cleared the prestigious UGC-NET exam in two subjects ( History and Political Science) and has also been a Civil Services Aspirant. Sunil Kumar had been serving as English Lecturer for sixteen years in Inter College and holds the teaching experience of sixteen years.
