The Department of Psychology at Dayanand Vedic College is one of a kind in the city of Orai. In accordance with the vision and mission of Dayanand Vedic College, The Department of Psychology amalgamates education with human values, encouraging holistic development of the students.
The Department of Psychology was established in the year under the headship of Dr.Pramod Kumar Rai. The department introduced psychology at Master’s level in the year 2001.
The Department of Psychology is equipped with practical laboratory wherein relevant psychological tests and instruments have been procured to enhance teaching and research activities. In addition, the Department of Psychology has a rich library and a counselling cell.
Considering the ever-changing requirements of the students, the Department of Psychology is proactive in conducting various seminars, workshops and guest lectures. The Department of Psychology is also designated as the prime center for research. At present, 25 research scholars have completed their PhD at the Department of Psychology/with the accomplished faculty.
The curriculum is in accordance with National Education Policy, 2020 with a strong emphasis upon developing creativity, critical thinking and social problem-solving among students.

Vision & Mission

The department envisions to prepare students for excellence in any of their chosen fields as an academician, researcher or practitioner by nurturing psychological skills and competencies, thereby encouraging them to be competent, growth-oriented, ethics-driven, sensitive and empathetic. The mission is to provide students with opportunities to learn about multiple fields in the area of psychology; apply psychological principles in real world settings; think critically and research; incorporate a multi-disciplinary approach; and familiarize themselves with different organizations.
