Associated with the name of Swami Dayanand Saraswati this great institution of Dayanand Vedic College was established on 20th July 1951, Friday by Shri Kishori Lal Khare, who was the founder principal. Beside Sri Khare, great social workers Shri Moolchand Agrawal, Shri Rama Shankar Sexena and great statement Pandit Chaturbhuj Sharma contributed in the establishment of this college. In the beginning, this institution was started with Art faculty having subjects of Hindi, English, History, Economics and Political science as subjects, but later on faculty of science, defence studies and teacher education was also started. In the science faculty, B.Sc. Biology was started in 1967.

To inhere amongst the students (B.Sc. and M.Sc.), the highest values of life, respect for Nature and to inculcate sound acquisition of knowledge in the field of animal sciences through quality educational practices and practical. Thereby, aim to build the society with sustainable development.
The department promotes the discovery and broad knowledge about the biology of animals, evolution and their environments as per the curriculum prescribed by Bundelkhand University, Jhansi.
The holistic development of the student and make them able to contribute effectively for their welfare and society in this dynamic era.

MISSION

1. To conduct educational tour thereby, giving exposure to the students by visiting dairy industry, Sericulture, Fish farm and fisheries, poultry farms, zoo etc.

2. To develop infrastructural facility and introduce tools & techniques in relevant fields.

3. To motivate students to conduct seminars, workshops, presentations on the topics included in the curriculum. It will help in achieving academic excellence and exposure.

4. To conduct quality research in frontier areas through sustainable development.

5. To provide a comprehensive training in theoretical and practical Zoology to students.
